  1. I enjoyed this book study. It made me reflect on my teaching and how I need to step out of my box. As teachers, we are constantly adjusting our curriculum, but it made me think of what more I could do. I would recommend this to a colleague.

  2. This one wasn't my favorite book study, but I did still overall like it. It didn't seem as engaging as some others that I've had, but I did enjoy and need the message about not shying away from change and the uncomfortable. I would recommend this one to others!

  3. This is my second book study and I enjoyed it. I really like how you can read the book at your own pace and reflect on it by writing on the blog post. I feel as though this was engaging and a good use of my time so I would not change anything.

  4. I enjoyed this book study because I found several ideas from the “Innovator’s Mindset” that I can connect to and use in my kindergarten through 8th grade art classes. Some other books that I’ve read haven’t been applicable to teaching art. I like the book study classes because they are self paced and the assignments are feasible. What I like least about this book study was the TED talk by Barry Schwartz. It was fairly long so I lost interest and I didn’t agree with him. I have recommended this book study to someone already.

I enjoyed this book study and I would refer it to teachers to read. Even though I am not teaching right now, I could apply this to many areas of teaching and in my life.

  9. I was given this book by our previous superintendant and to be honest, I never thought I'd read it. After reading the first section it became an easy read and the thoughts from the author were things that really resonated with me. I enjoy the quizzes and the blog posts so I think the course was great!

  13. I thought this book study was interesting and thoughtful. I enjoyed reading the book and the TED talks were also interesting to listen to. It might not be as off the charts wonderful as a few of the other books I have done recently but this book still gave me several ideas that I can work on now and over the summer to enhance the learning in my classroom.

  14. I really enjoyed this book study. My favorite was the TED talk with Schwartz. I t made me really think about the importance of choices. I really like taking ideas back to my classroom and it's great to learn reasons how we can use technology and the importance of keeping up with the times. Students aren't the same as they were, even 10 years ago, so me learning why innovation is important and how I can challenge my students creativity and engage them in their learning helps me to be a better teacher.

For this book study, I really enjoyed the connected TED talks, especially Schwartz. In fact, I have ordered the books written by several of the speakers in order to take a closer look. I love to integrate these kinds of life lessons into class for my students (and less is more would be a GREAT thing to try to impress upon them!).

  17. This course was helpful and made me reflect on my teaching and how I can better engage students. It specifically helped me re-think my strategies in making more real life connections with historical stories for students. I liked the TED talk discussions and found them relative and interesting to my subject areas and classroom situations. I would recommend it to a colleague because it encourages meaningful reflection and positive changes in practice.

  18. This book study challenged me to think more creatively about my role in education. Sometimes I struggle applying educational literature to my health and physical education classes. I enjoyed that the author himself was in that role and it helped me shift my mindset from making excuses for why things won’t work for me and my students - but rather how they could work in my content area. I would recommend this book study to my colleagues.
